Job Description
As part of the Cinéma sous les étoiles project, Funambules Médias is looking for projection technicians to contribute to the smooth running of our outdoor screenings for the 16th edition, 2025.
Eligibility
This position is funded by one of the following organizations, so the candidate must meet the requirements of at least one of the two institutions described below.
This position is funded by Canada Summer Jobs: the candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 15 and 30 years old at the start of employment;
- Be a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or designated refugee under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of employment;
- Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally authorized to work in Canada.
This position is funded by the Fonds Étudiant FTQ: the candidate must meet the following criteria:
- Be between 13 and 29 years old at the start of employment;
- Be a resident of Quebec (permanent resident or study visa);
- Have completed a minimum of 20 hours of classes per month in the session preceding employment in a program recognized by the Ministry of Education of Quebec;
- Have a university level of education.
Responsibilities
Under the supervision of the diffusion manager and the technical manager of the event, technicians will provide support during screenings through the following tasks:
Before screenings:
- Ensure maintenance and upkeep of equipment;
- Ensure that projection materials are properly installed on the computer (feature films, short films, slides, and advertisements);
- Prepare video and audio projection equipment.
During screenings:
- Assist in setting up, running, and dismantling projection equipment;
- Conduct image and sound tests before the screening;
- Manage the sound console and microphones during discussions;
- Be able to react in case of technical problems.
Technicians may also be required to assist the production team with any other tasks related to the organization of the festival.
Skills Required
- Excellent organizational skills, rigor, and professionalism;
- Experience as a projection technician;
- Mastery of the VLC multimedia player on a MacBook;
- Interest in social and political documentary cinema;
- Ability to work in a team, flexibility, and autonomy;
- Driver’s license strongly recommended.
Employment Conditions
- Salary to be discussed according to the prevailing salary scale;
- Evening work (approximately 6 pm to 1 am);
- 2 to 4 evenings per week;
- Mandatory and paid training will take place in the second or third week of June;
- Our offices and equipment are located at 2065 rue Parthenais.
